Dear Henry, a scare and the day you had a brain scan.

Dear Henry, a scare and the day you had a brain scan.

Thursday June 7th, was a crazy day...

First of all, what I left out of yesterday's happy post was this....As I was holding you, you started to squirm a little more then what I felt was normal and then a sound came out of you, like a deflating ballon, and I knew it wasn't right. I told Matt something was wrong, Matt jumped up and got someone, and in a matter of seconds the machines were dinging like crazy and our nurse was looking over Henry, she said "Please tell me you didn't extubate" and sure enough thats what happened. His breathing tube came out, she swooped him up, doctors came out of no where, extra nurses showed up and we were all of a sudden in the way, so we went out and sat in the waiting room.

After a couple of minutes the doctor came out and said the tube came out with gravity and that we were going to give Henry a brake, and use a little oxygen mask over his nose, with a chin strap. He is so tiny that his lungs aren't big enough to breath on his own for long term, so while getting the tube removed was top priority eventually, right now it's very risky. He could get too tired and just stop breathing.

So all of this happened on Wednesday, the same day that you were scheduled to have your brain scanned for bleeds. Because you had such a traumatic day, they rescheduled to Thursday.

Back to Thursday, you started the day with your brain scan, we wouldn't get the results for a couple of days, but this was a very big deal. Because Henry is such a young preemie a brain bleed is a very real possibility. If the tests come back positive for bleeds, depending on the severity it could be that Henry would have seizures, decreased reflexes, decreased muscle tone, heart rate issues, and breathing pauses. It could be a very dangerous diagnoses. We will hold our breathe the next 2 days and wait patiently.

Look at that beautiful brain!

Look at that beautiful brain!

I held you again for 4 hours, we held hands again and I breathed you in, until we needed to put you back to rest.

We spent most of the evening with our sweet baby boy then went home to sleep... I'll be back early!
